Most Anticipated Geeky Finds Of 2018
I love the feeling you get on the first day of a new year. A clean slate. A fresh start. You've set your goals and motivated to do great things. A new year jump starts my creativity and I start planning on what I want to do with Geek & Glitter, my YouTube channel, and more. Let's start 2018 proper by taking a look at what geeky goodness is coming our way.
Her Universe
If you've been following this blog or me on social media, you know that I'm a major fangirl of the Her Universe brand. We've seen countless collections inspired by our favorite fandom in shirts, jackets, dresses, activewear, home accessories, and more. So what else is there to explore?
First, the launch of "Our Universe" which caters to men and kids designs. While Her Universe was started because founder Ashley Eckstein couldn't find Star Wars apparel for women, it looks like there's a demand for men's geek fashion as well. Our Universe is more than just graphic tees with a superhero logo on it. It gives a nod at the fandom and it's subtle enough to wear to work especially if your office doesn't allow casual graphic tees. You can find Our Universe items at Box Lunch
Her Universe designs have also landed at the Disney Dress Shop, an elegant store featuring dresses, skirts, and accessories inspired by Disney. The Alice in Wonderland inspired teacup skirts and cardigan as well as two dresses inspired by the Haunted Mansion debuted last year in October on Dapper Day. According to Disney Style, there'll be more theme park inspired designs releasing in 2018.
There's new line of activewear launching as well, and its galaxy design is inspired the brand name itself. Ashley is also releasing a book entitled "It's Your Universe" where she shares her story from lending her voice to create Ahsoka Tano for Star Wars: Clone Wars to founding Her Universe.
I saved the best news for last... we're finally getting Ahsoka Tano apparel! Back in December 2017, Ashley teased a photo of her wearing an Ahsoka Tano jacket on Instagram. This jacket is to die for! It embodies the same color blocking and pattern as Ahoska's costume in Star Wars: Rebels. There's even details like the circular belt buckle and stitching of the Fulcrum symbol on the back of the jacket. This jacket is a Her Universe Exclusive and will not be sold at any other retailers. Keep your eyes peeled on the Her Universe website early January to snatch one. I know I will. As if this news wasn't exciting enough, Ashley also teased the release of an Ahsoka Tano activewear line. My heart is so happy to finally see some Ahsoka designs. She is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars and I feel that even though she's quite popular with the fans, the merchandise have been long over due. #AhsokaLives
Too Faced Unicorn Collection
The unicorn makeup trend is not slowing down, and Too Faced is taking charge by launching an all-unicorn inspired collection! The line "Life's A Festival" will include an eyeshadow palette, bronzer, rainbow highlighter (infused with rose quartz), setting spray, lipsticks, lip glosses, highlighting sticks, and a rainbow-bristled strobing brush.
Staying with the mystic unicorn theme, the lipsticks has a color-shifting effect so it'll look a little different on everyone. The same goes for the lip glosses. Lastly the highlighting sticks is shaped like unicorn horns. Perfection! The collection will be available on TooFaced.com on February 15th
Storybook Cosmetics
Storybook Cosmetics gave us tons of goodies in 2017, and they're not stopping. Teasing on their Instagram (@storybookcosmetics), they're working on some major collaborations. One is The Hunger Games, and the other is Star Wars.
The IG post of The Hunger Games collab teases a gold compact with the Mockingjay symbol. What's in the compact? No one knows. Could be blush? Highlighter? Powder? All we know from the caption is that it is "coming soon". Storybook Cosmetics if you're reading this, I volunteer to be tribute to test out the line when it releases.
Next, and perhaps one of the most well-known property of all time - Star Wars! This is a huge achievement for Storybook Cosmetics. Aside from this announcement video post on their Instagram, no dates or other details have been released. Though based on what we've seen so far from the brand, we can speculate and hope for a full line of eyeshadow palettes, brushes, lipsticks and more. Maybe we'll see lightsaber brushes and eyeshadow shades named after our favorite Star Wars characters. Imagine a pearly white iridescent shade named "Leia" or a metallic gold shade named "C-3PO". Maybe a dark burgundy lipstick with gold glitter named "Mustafar"? Will there be two palettes we can chose from? Light side and Dark side? Jedi and Sith? And will there be Porgs? No matter what the line may consist of, I know Storybook Cosmetics will do it justice. I will be ready with my wallet when the collection is released.
