Eternals - Marvel's Most Ambitious Film To Date

Marvel’s Eternals arrive in theaters on November 5th. Directed by Academy Award-winning director Chloe Zhao (Nomandland, The Rider). The star-studded cast includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Don Lee, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, and Lia McHugh. The story follows our immortal superheroes known as Eternals who are created by the Celestials. They have lived on Earth for thousand of years, and now they reunite to battle the evil Deviants.

This film feels the most different from the rest of the MCU as it focuses more on the relationships between the Eternals. While it leans heavier on the exposition, there’ still plenty of action to satisfy the Marvel signature. We’re treated to some of the most beautiful cinematography in the MCU as Zhao takes on the the tremendous task of introducing the audience to the Eternals, the Celestials, the Deviants, why the Eternals came to Earth, their interaction with the human race throughout history as well as their relationship with each other. As a result, I felt that so much was being crammed into one movie and I didn’t feel connected to some of the characters. I did enjoy seeing nods to both the Jack Kirby comic and the Neil Gaiman comic in the film.
