The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle Returns
Last summer, Universal Studios Hollywood lit up the night sky with the "Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle", a spectacular light show Hogwarts castle comes to life with the help of powerful projectors. The show featuring colorful animation and lights, along with John William's iconic Harry Potter theme proves to be extremely popular with park guests and Harry Potter fans alike. If you didn't catch it last year, you're in luck! "Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle" returns to Universal Studios Hollywood this summer, starting on Sunday, June 24th! But don't wait too long to visit, the light show is only returning for a limited time.
There are other reasons to pay a visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this summer, such as new lunch menu items at Three Broom Sticks, apparel and merchandise, new spell interactive locations, and more.
New Menu Items
At Three Broomsticks, you'll not only find yourself sitting inside a replica of the snow-capped tavern from the movie, you're also in for some delicious food such as The Shepard's pie or The Great Feast. With the menu expansion, you can enjoy the following:
- Ploughman’s Lunch, featuring an imported selection of ham, salami, country paté, English cheese, homemade pickles and a warm scotch egg served with bread, cranberry chutney and grain mustard
- Cheese Toastie with Chicken, featuring grilled English Cheddar cheese with chicken, crispy bacon, mustard and sliced tomato topped with a sunny side egg served with a fresh salad or potato wedges
- Sunday Roast Sandwich served on a freshly baked baguette filled with warm prime rib, caramelized onions, English Cheddar, horseradish sauce and homemade garlic pickles served with fresh salad or potato wedges
I can't wait to try out these new menu items, especially the Sunday Roast Sandwich.
Creating Magic
Magic is happening all around you when you're in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can purchase interactive wands and visit various magic locations where you can perform a spell and watch things come to life with a flick of your wrist. New spells will be added this summer, bringing the total of spells up to 15. The new spells include Incedio - a fire-making spell and Alohomora - a spell that unlocks a series of locks to reveal something hidden behind a secret door. Don't forget to practice often when you're at the park, as some spells require practice and higher skill level.
Aside from casting new spells, Madam Malkin's Talking Mirror will also be added, located between Dervish and Banges and Gladrags Wizardwear. Pay this Talking Mirror a visit and maybe it'll compliment your Wizardly ensemble.
Dress Like A Wizard
Speaking of your Wizardly (or Witchy) ensemble, guests can find new apparels at Gladrags Wizardwear, including a high-end replica of Professor Snape's robe and Hermione's dress from the Yule Ball. Other apparels include house robes, scarves, ties, cardigans, and more!
Every time I visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I find myself giddy with joy. As soon as I walk under the Hogsmeade sign, my eyes fill with tears without fail. It's an overwhelming sensation where I'm transported to a magical world and I'm able to leave my worries and stress behind me for the time being. I look forward to visiting this summer to see the return of Nighttime Lights and try out new menu items and of course, enjoy a Butterbeer or two.
