New Droids Minnie Ears By Ashley Eckstein
Missing Disneyland or Disney World? Add some sparkle to your day (and your Minnie ears collection) with the newest Disney Parks Designer Collection ears by Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano, Founder of Her Universe). This marks the second pair of ear headband designed and released by Eckstein under the brand of Her Universe. The first pair she designed paid ode to Princess Leia Organa. While we’re all anticipating the Ahsoka Tano ears we’ve seen Ashley wearing on her Instagram, ShopDisney announced on their Facebook page on April 16th, 2020 of this new design featuring our favorite droids from Star Wars: R2D2, BB-8, and C-3PO.
This came as a surprise, at least to me because I didn’t see the usual sneak peek or promo posts on social media. The Droid ears debuted today (April 17th 2020) on ShopDisney and have already sold out! Since these ears are a limited release, there’s no telling if the ears will restock. Even though it is currently sold out, you can still see the ears listed on ShopDisney’s website. Another thing that caught my eye on the website was the limited quantity per customer, limiting to 10 per customer. I don’t know about you but I feel that number is too high, opening up the opportunity for resellers to snag ears then selling it at a much higher price on eBay instead of allowing customers who really want them a chance to purchase. In my opinion, a limited quantity of 2 or 3 sounds more reasonable.
The ears are priced at $78 USD each and feature plushy ears - one R2D2 and one BB-8, both with gem stud accents. On the back of each ear, “Beep Boop” and “Beep” are written in gem studs for the respective droids. Of course, the ears would not be complete without a bow. A metal C-3PO embellishment is set in the center of a metallic gold bow.
The headband has “Her Universe” embroidered on its side and has a non-slip band lining.
