Long Beach Comic Expo 2018
I kicked off the 2018 convention season with Long Beach Comic Expo this past Presidents' Day weekend. This being my first time at the Long Beach Comic Expo, I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout, the many cosplayers, and the selections of vendors and artists on the convention floor.
Right before entering the Long Beach Convention Center, one particular cosplay caught my eye. Enter Amilyn Holdo! From the lavender hair and the matching dress to the movie-accurate bangles, she looked perfect as the Vice Admiral. And if you're wondering why she looks so familiar or why her costume is so on point, this is Kelly Cercone, winner of the Her Universe 2015 Fashion Show (Judges' Choice). She's no stranger to cosplay or designing costumes.
Going along with the Star Wars theme, the next cosplayer I saw was no other than lady Han Solo, completed with her own Millennium Falcon and co-pilot Chewbacca!
While Long Beach Comic Expo is smaller in comparison to the popular San Diego Comic Con, there were still plenty of vendors and artists filling up the convention floor. Joe Keery (Steve, Stranger Things) also made a special appearance with a panel and fan meet-and-greet.
Watch my full video coverage of the Long Beach Comic Expo below to see more cosplayers and a special appearance by Azim Rizk (Green/Black Ranger, Power Rangers Megaforce).
