That's From Disneyland! Pop-Up Exhibit
We live in an age where pop-up exhibits are happening faster than I can keep track. Installations like the Ice Cream Museum, The Happy Place, and more fill up my Instagram feed on a daily basis. For Disney fanatics, there's a special pop-up exhibit called "That's From Disneyland!" presented by Van Eaton Galleries. What's special about this exhibit is the two-day auction taking place at the end of its run. "That's From Disneyland!" is filled with original concept art, ride vehicles, props, attraction posters, paper goods, toys, and more! According to the Van Eaton Galleries website, this auction represents one of the largest collections of its kind in the world!
The pop-up exhibit runs from August 1st through August 24th and is free for all to attend. The auction is scheduled for the 25th and 26th as well as other special events.
There was an special preview held for exclusively for DisneyBounders and I got the opportunity to check it out! In true DisneyBound fashion, all attending were encourage to come in their best 90's Bound, as the preview was named "Totally 90's Party". If you're familiar with DisneyBounding, you know that the rules are very flexible and the community is welcoming and friendly. I scoured my closet for my interpretation of 90's Mulan and came up with this look:
Complete with a side ponytail and the iconic Mulan hair comb, I was off to the preview party.
As soon as you step foot into the exhibit you are surrounded by vintage Disney memorabilia, from ride vehicles to original artwork and signage. As a Disney fan, it was like a walk down memory lane. You're even allowed to sit inside some of the ride vehicles for photos. There are a couple of photo spots set up to fulfill your Instagram needs, such as the Stretching Room scene. You can pose on a tombstone with the four classic Haunted Mansion poster behind you. Other photo spots include a giant neon "D" signage, the Sea Serpent from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and more.
Upstairs was the "Bounders' Market", featuring fan favorite vendors such as Elhoffer Design, Whos Its and Whats Its, Crowned Athletics, and more! Bounders can shop anything from gorgeous dresses and accessories to original art work. I purchased a pair of castle earrings (from Unicorn Crafts) that I can't wait to wear on my next Disneyland trip.
Since this is a party, DJ Jaimee Kort (@partyontheedge) dished out 90s pop hits and we were served Dole Whip, churros, and cake pops. The party was so much fun and seeing everyone in their 90's Bound really set the tone.
This was a fantastic event; a great way to get the word out and I'm glad I was able to attend. For those of you are local to Los Angeles, I urge you to check out "That's From Disneyland!" while it's in town. Details for the pop-up exhibit is below:
