Monthly Favorites: October
While it hasn’t completely cooled down in LA, October means I can start getting into the Fall mindset. Getting ready to decorate my apartment in Fall color palettes and spooky-ness. Let’s get into some of my favorites for October, starting with skincare.
SKINCARE
SOLO Mio Sonic Facial Brush
I’ve been using this tool as a part of my nightly skin care routine for almost a year and I’m happy to have stumbled across this when I was looking to get myself a Foreo Luna. The Foreo Luna is a silicon facial cleansing tool that gives you a deeper and gentler cleanse by utilizing sonic vibration and its many silicon touch points. The appearance of the Foreo Luna is sleek and sophisticated, and while I could picture how great it would look on my bathroom sink, the price tag of $199 (for the Foreo Luna 3) made me thing twice. Then I found the SOLO Mio Sonic Facial Brush. It’s very similar to the Foreo Luna, utilizing sonic vibration and has silicon touch points, except its way more affordable at just $38 on Amazon.
After reading many positive reviews, I decided to get a pink one for myself. I really notice a difference in my skin when I do use it. My face is smoother and brighter, and feels even cleaner after use. What’s great about the SOLO Mio is that it’s recharge able and comes with a cute little travel case. In the (almost) one year I’ve owned the SOLO Mio, I’ve only charged it 3 or 4 times.
The SOLO Mio has different speeds, but it doesn’t have a timer like the Foreo Luna, but that wasn’t really important to me because I could just set a timer on my phone.
Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask 2x
If you read my August favorites, then you know that I’m a fan of Innisfree products, from their cushion foundation to face wash. I first discovered the Volcanic Pore Clay Mask when they included a sample pack with my order. It was actually the Pore Clearing Clay Mask with Volcanic Cluster and I fell in love with it. The Super Volcanic one has a stronger sebum absorption power. It has a cooling affect and feels so great upon application. Once it dries, just rinse if off with warm water and pat your face dry. I use this once a week, or as a spot treatment if I feel a pimple coming on.
FASHION
Stitch Fix
I had my reservations about a clothing subscription box - will the pieces be in my style? what’s the process like? Will I even like what comes inside? I decided to give Stitch Fix a try because I felt like I wasn’t going outside of my usual comfort zone of neutral color palettes and jeans and wanted to try something new, so I signed up for Stitch Fix. I’ll be honest, I was really disappointed in my first box. Everything seemed generic, even though the quality of the items were good. I ended up keeping the pain of jeans and a navy blue cardigan that was perfect for work.
I was cautiously optimistic about for the second box, and it was still just ok. I ended up asking for a different stylist and ever since then, I’ve been loving my Stitch Fix. I usually end up keeping whatever bottoms comes in the box because it fits great. In fact, my first pair of white denim came from one of the Stitch Fix deliveries. I don’t wear white jeans because I’m clumsy and didn’t want to worry about spilling coffee on myself, but these jeans felt like butter on my skin I couldn’t part with it.
All in all, I ended up really liking Stitch Fix. It introduces me certain styles I would have never imagined purchasing personally. It’s a great service if you don’t love browsing through racks and racks of clothes in crowded stores or is looking to try something different. You can schedule your Fix to arrive as often a every 2-3 weeks or as little as every 3 months, so it can fit your lifestyle and budget. And this can be changed any time!

ENTERTAINMENT
Merge Magic
I’ve been so obsessed with this game. It’s a puzzle adventure game where you complete quests and grown your own magical garden by combined similar components to create a better item. As you can tell from the game title, this has a fantasy themed game. Your garden can be filled with creatures such as faries, dragons, unicorns, and more to harvests items for you. The more items you collect and merge, the bigger your garden becomes. There are endless levels of quests using the same method of combining to unlock cursed lands and rewards.
I love this game because it feels so relaxing as I’m playing and seeing these adorable magical creatures going back and forth. The game is free to download on the iOS and Android and has in-game purchase for premium items if you want to get them.
The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star (by Shane Dawson)
I have been obsessed with the docu-series by Shane Dawson, depicting his journey of creating his own makeup collection in collaboration with Jeffree Star. I’ve been watching Shane for a long time and I think this series, and the previous series with Jeffree Star is the best content he’s put out. I’ve never seen the creation of a makeup collection from beginning to end so the whole thing is fascinating to me. The series is timed to the collection release and yes, the marketing totally worked because I’m ready to purchase the entire collection. In part 5 of the series, we got a peek at the Mini Controversy palette and the lipstick set box (hi pig box!). I’m in love with the shadows and the lip shades. In part 6 we finally have the Conspiracy palette reveal and I’m so glad Shane said no to the initial designs because this final design is way more sleek. The black chrome clasps and the triangle detail on top pulls the whole thing together.
Counting down to November 1st for release of the collection. Fingers crossed that I’ll be able to get my hands on a couple of items - at least one of the eyeshadow palettes and DEFINITELY that pig mirror.
