Aug 5 The Food Of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Back in June, during the reservation period for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, I wanted to document what I ate, how it tastes, and the price point on the items.

The food at Galaxy’s Edge is so unique. The aesthetics matched what I imaged Star Wars food would look like, even down to the smallest details like plates and utensils.
Take a look at this video on the food of Galaxy’s Edge. Before you start the video, please know that I didn’t get to go to every food spot and try everything on this visit.

Oga’s Cantina

Walking into Oga’s Cantina is like walking into a whole different world. It’s busy and bustling, and you can’t help but bop to the beat of whatever DJ Rex is playing. The decor is straight out of the movie and it is amazing to see in person. However, you may not get to sit on one of the covet booths as seating is at the discretion of the host and depending on how busy the Catina is, which is always.
During my visit, I escorted to a small standing tabletop that was shared with 4 others. There wasn’t a lot of room on the table, especially once all the drinks arrive.

The Catina serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as some small bites. You can also purchase souvenir Porg and Endor tiki mugs, sold exclusively at the Cantina.

Oga’s Obsession
Batuu Bits

I really liked both of the drinks and Oga’s obsession, which is a cotton candy lemonade flavored jello with blueberry popping pearls and dried fruit mixture. The Batuu Bits were disappointing. The snack definitely looked like it belonged in the Star Wars universe, but a plate of dried snacks and some oriental mix for $8 feels a little steep for me.

Kat Saka’s Kettle

This little popcorn stand is located in the Blackspire Marketplace. This is also where you can pick up the souvenir mouse droid popcorn bucket. The tri-color popcorn has a sweet, savory, and spicy mix of flavors. To be honest, it wasn’t my favorite popcorn from Disneyland. The flavors didn’t really go together for me, but if you want the souvenir popcorn bucket, it’s worth a visit.

Docking Bay 7

This is where I decided to stop in for lunch, based on the recommendation of friends who visited Galaxy’s Edge before me. You’ll find a fairly large amount of delicious food and deserts here. I tried the Smoked Kaduu Ribs ($16.99), the Fried Endorian Tip Yip ($15.49), and the Oi-Oi Puff ($6.49). The Kaduu Ribs is smoked pork ribs served atop a blueberry corn muffin and cabbage slaw. I know the blueberry corn muffin seems out of place, but it went beautifully with the ribs and was my favorite part of that dish. The Tip-Yip is essentially a cube fried chicken tender, nicely seasoned. The vegetable potato mash that came with it was really good. Finally, the Oi-Oi Puff, a raspberry cream puff with passion fruit mousse. This dessert was so delicious. The puff itself reminded me of the bread (is it bread?) that Rey was making in The Force Awakens. It’s not overly sweet and very light. I can’t wait to go back and try the Batuu Bon which is a chocolate puff.

The Milk Stand

Finally, every Star Wars fan who wondered what Blue Milk tastes like can finally try it for themselves at The Milk Stand. They serve both Blue and Green milk, made of a blend of coconut and rice milks. The flavors are nice and light… a bit of fruit and floral taste. I was worried that the drinks would be too sweet, and am happy to say that it has the perfect amount of sweetness. The consistency is a little light than a fruit smoothie from Jamba Juice and is perfect on a hot day. I preferred the Green Milk over the Blue Milk, but happy to have either on any given day. You can give purchase a souvenir Bubo Wamba Family Far Milk Jug sipper ($24.99) from the Milk Stand.
