SDCC Shopping Guide and Exclusives
San Diego Comic-Con is upon us! Aside from the exclusive trailers and contents from the highly anticipated Hall H presentation, one of the main draws of SDCC is the convention floor. Rows and rows of booths selling shirts, exclusives, signings and more. It gets crowded quickly so how do you make the most of your time while you're on the floor?
I'm putting together a shopping guide to help you make the best use of your time. Be sure to check back often as I will be adding new exclusives releases as they are announced.
Includes exclusives from:
- Elhoffer Design
- Hero Within
- Her Universe
- KidRobot
- Nickelodeon
ELHOFFER DESIGN - Booth #932
To say I've become obsessed with Elhoffer Design is an understatement. Since meeting Catherine Elhoffer at WonderCon in March, I've added 6 pieces from her collection to my closet. What I love about Elhoffer is that she uses high-quality and locally sourced material to create the most comfortable clothes. Her design looks great and flattering on all body types and almost all of her pieces have practice features such as pockets, which is more necessary than you think.
This year Elhoffer Design will be bringing some spectacular exclusives to SDCC that you won't want to miss. Nine items have been announced so far, six being exclusives and three designs launching at the convention. The exclusives will be sold only at SDCC while the launch designs are will be available for purchase at SDCC and may be available on the website depending on stock after SDCC.
Let's take a look at the exclusives below:
I own the Oversized Crops sweater (in red, yellow, and navy blue) and love how soft and airy it is. You can wear it off the shoulder for a relaxed look or with a tank underneath if you don't want to show your midriff. I love that she's doing a variation of the cropped sweaters for SDCC.
The wrap dresses are to die for! Honestly, pictures don't do it justice. I've seen the Magical Maxi Wrap Dress (in green and black) in person and it is stunning. I can only imagine the pink and blue dress looking just as beautiful. The Dark Faerie is the one I got my eyes on. The purple pops against the black and can we talk about those sleeves? You can bet I'll be running to the Elhoffer booth on preview night and to add it to my collection. Be sure to keep your eyes on her website to stay updated on all SDCC exclusives and announcements.
Hero Within - Booth #2047
Blending geeky and sophisticated fashion, Hero Within mostly known for their menswear line featuring subtle designs such as Batman, Superman, The Flash and more. They've started to create a collection for women, including two dresses inspired by Wonder Woman and Batman. CEO Tony Kim is no stranger to SDCC, and this year he's showcasing a brand new Marvel collection. Back in March, Hero Within announced the partnership with Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Comic and have been teasing some of the designs on Instagram. So far they have released two exclusives.
The first is the Black Widow Cropped Hoodie.
This fleece hoodie boldly features the Black Widow logo on the front, a drawstring hood, long sleeves with the Avengers logo on sleeves, 'Black Widow' written on the back and a raw-cut cropped hem. The hoodie looks incredibly comfy and perfect for summer nights.
The second exclusive is the 80th Anniversary Superman Blazer.
With Superman's crest silhouette integrated on the back. The interior is red like Superman's cape and features seven pockets! If you've seen Hero Within's blazers in the past, you know this is something worth adding to your closet.
There are plenty more exclusive to be announced from Hero Within so be sure to check back to their website or Instagram so you don't miss out. Exclusives will be sold in limited quantity each day at Booth #2047
Third exclusive (announced on July 9th) is the Wonder Woman denim jacket for women. We've seen the first iteration of this jacket in Men's size and while I know many ladies purchased a Men's small to wear, my 5'1 frame was just swimming in that. I am thrilled there's a women's version of this denim jacket as it is more fitted for our bodies. The is priced at $119 and features the Wonder Woman logo on the back.
Her Universe - Main floor #1323, Lucasfilm Pavillion #2913T
Long time readers know how much I love this brand. Each year at SDCC I try to purchase at least one item from Her Universe. Last year, I got the black denim Avengers jacket and it was my only purchase from the convention. I have a feeling this year I'm going to have a hard time picking only one item to buy... During the Her Universe Update panel at Wonder Con, Ashley Eckstein and Hot Topic gave us a sneak peek at the designs of the upcoming collection "Destination Disney". This is a full collection inspired by Disney Princesses and it includes apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty, and more!
We saw design sketches (illustrated by artist Ashley Taylor) of Ariel, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Moana, Mulan, and Tiana. I squealed at the mention of Mulan's shoes, which Eckstein aptly nicknamed "Mu-shoes". There's more! Her Universe have been venturing into beauty, release eyeshadow palettes in theme with "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" as well as makeup brushes. During the Wonder Con panel, Eckstein mentioned Little Mermaid inspired makeup brushes (dinglehoppers, anyone?). Each item in this collection will be under $100 and will be available at Hot Topic this summer. But I'm hoping to see it on display or even for sale at SDCC. I will update as Her Universe release more information, for now take a look at the design sketches below:
While it is not clear if this collection will be available for purchase at SDCC, it will definitely be available at Hot Topic. Get your wallet ready because I have a feeling this collection is going to be one of Her Universe biggest one yet.
**EDIT on 7/13 to include a sneak peek of the Clone Wars collection**
Eckstein took to her Instagram, posting a photo with her fellow Clone Wars cast members. She writes:
"Soooo, I *might* have designed a fashion collection to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Star Wars The Clone Wars and I *might* have invited my friends over to the office today to model it for me... #starwars #clonewars#sneakpeek #comingsoon #sdcc"
As you can tell from the photo, this collection will have something for men and women and I am beyond excited to see more Ahoska apparel. Will we see this at SDCC as well?
For all my fellow geeky fashionistas out there, don't miss the Her Universe fashion show on Thursday, July 19th at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Door opens at 5:15 pm.
